Central Coast Auction Service's Legacy
The team at Central Coast Auction Service come from Western roots. We were brought up in the auction world and understand the science behind the auction method of marketing. We are three generations of auctioneers that all share the goal of raising the most money for our clients while providing an enjoyable time for their guests.
James (Jim) Glines was raised on a cattle ranch in Cuyama, Ca. He recalls the mesmerizing chant of the auctioneer as the family bought and sold their cattle. While Jim went on to be a banker, he never forgot those roots and in 1997 he enrolled at the World Champion College of Auctioneering. His passion was raising money to support non profits in his community and beyond, he built a large client list and was loved by everyone. In 2001 Jim was awarded the title of California State Champion Auctioneer. Jim passed in 2025 but his passion for auctioneering is carried on by his son, John and his Granddaughter, Taylor Glines.

We absolutely understand the importance of this. It is ingrained in the foundation of our business. That is the reason why we’re in our 4th generation of auctioneers. We do what we say we are going to do and our clients know this.
Last year, we lost an icon. Jim Glines was an integral part of the community. Although Jim was not a Military Colonel, he held the title of Colonel. “Colonel” is an honorary title given to auctioneers in the US, with its history stemming from the Civil War.
During the Civil War, only a Colonel was allowed to decide how to divvy up the spoils of war among his winning soldiers, who would view and bid on the items they wanted. Although Jim did not have to win a battle, he always took charge and fought hard for those winning bids!
Jim was awarded the Best “Auctioneer” in Santa Maria for 2021. Presented by the Santa Maria Award Program.
Now, John and Taylor carry on the traditions and professionalism that are hallmarks of Central Coast Auction Service.
